Brookdale Men’s Tennis Currently In Second Place at National Championship

Entering the third and final day of competition at the NJCAA National men’s tennis tournament, Brookdale currently sits in second place with 26.5 points, trailing Gloucester who has 27.5.

Three of the nine Jersey Blues’ entrants are still alive with number one singles Tom Wolski (Watchung Hills), number six singles Dillon Bunt (RFH) and the number one doubles team of Wolski and Nils Svenson (Middletown South) all playing in the championship match tomorrow.

Wolski, who was down 3-5 in his semifinal match and rallied for six straight points for the win, will face a Kingsborough (NY) opponent in the opening round which began at 8:00 a.m. (CST).

A late-season addition to the lineup at the number six spot, Bunt defeated the top-seeded entrant in the semifinals and will now face Region XIX champ Ed Thompson from Gloucester.

Wolski and Svenson will play toe-to-toe against intra-region rivals Matt Pierson and Jason Bielski.  The previous time the two doubles faced each other was in the semifinals of the Region XIX tournament, where Mercer came out victorious went on to win the Region XIX title.

Singles matches began at 8:00 a.m. (CST) and doubles will start at 11:00 a.m. (CST).
